Christine Duck Calmes

October 17, 1937 – February 05, 2020

Mrs. Christine Duck Calmes, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend .  She was a caretaker to everyone she loved.

The seventh child of eight born on October 17, 1937 to her parents John and Lucinda Cockrell Duck in the town called Brooksville, Mississippi where she was a member of Mount Ary Missionary Baptist Church.

After graduating from Wilson High School in Brooksville, Mississippi she relocated to Tupelo, Mississippi she joined the membership of Springhill Missionary Baptist Church, where she remained faithful in working with the Kitchen Committee. Just to name a few of her joy in life were cooking, gardening, spending quality time with her family, especially her grands.

Christine departed to her heavenly home on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 after a long illness at the North Mississippi Medical Center.  She was preceded in death by her parents, all of her sibling, one son Alvin S. Calmes, sister-in-law Luerine Calmes.

Christine leaves to cherish he memories: her devoted husband of 60 years Johnnie Calmes, two daughters, Zanthia (Henry) Slaughter, Shelia Alexander, one son, Gerald (Cynthia) Calmes, Five Grandson, Chris (Christeanna) Calmes, Sean Calmes, David Calmes, Dino Calmes, Zackary Alexander.  Four grand daughters, Alex Calmes, Alyssa (Justin) Tine, Caisey Calmes, Dana Calmes, a nieces, Dorothy Hearn, Mattie Koger, three great grandchildren, Carmen Valderramos, Cannon and Channing Calmes, another daughter-in-law Wanda (Greg) Campbell, a sister-in-law, Autrey Calmes and many other relatives and friends.
