Robert Milton Evans

Saltillo- Robert Milton Evans, age 83, passed peacefully from this Earth on March 27, 2026

Robert was born in Columbia, Mississippi, and as an Army brat, he lived in Germany,

Hawaii, Canada, and numerous cities across the United States, from coast to coast. He

later settled in Saltillo, Mississippi, where he built a life filled with love, family, and

cherished memories.

On April 10, 1964, Robert Evans and Mary Timmons were united in marriage. Together,

they raised three children and created a home full of warmth, love, and laughter.

Robert was a devoted Christian whose faith guided his life. He was a faithful member of

Birmingham Ridge Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir. Even when he was no

longer able to attend in person, he remained steadfast in his faith, faithfully watching

each service online.

Robert’s love for his family showed in everything he did. He worked hard to provide for

them and was always present, whether taking his kids to sports, supporting his

grandkids, or making sure his wife could be part of every moment. Robert had a passion

for history, classic movies, and was an avid lover of John Wayne. He will be

remembered for his love of family, his quiet strength, and the joy he found in the simple

pleasures of life.

For the past year, he was lovingly cared for by the staff at New Albany Health and

Rehab. The family extends a special thank you for their compassion and support.

He was preceded in death by his parents Grayson Evans and Neva Thetice Barefoot

Evans, David Oliver, Keith Williams, and a special friend, Don Gilbert.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Timmons Evans; his children, Danny

Evans (Christine), Sandra Oliver (Eugene), and Wendy Williams; his grandchildren,

Christopher Evans, Brianna Johnson (Tyler), Evan Oliver (Olivia), Lindsay Evans, Mary

Beth Oliver, Molly Sellars (Eric), Garrett Evans, and Marla Tackitt (Brandon); his

great-grandchildren, Landon Evans, Emilia and Elizabeth Oliver; his sisters, Marsha

Oliver and Sue McCully (Ron); and a host of nieces and nephews.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Evan Oliver, Garrett Evans, Eric Sellars,

Brandon Tackitt, Michael Oliver, Scott Oliver, and Mark Timmons.

Honorary pallbearers are Christopher Evans, Ron McCully, Donnie Timmons, Sammy

McCraw, Tracy Burgeson, and Eddie Timmons.

We will celebrate his life on Monday, March 30th at Waters Funeral Home in Baldwyn,

Mississippi, with services officiated by Nathan Reed, Evan Oliver, and Bobby Holland.
