Isaac “Ike” Hooks, age 72, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 14, 2018, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. He was born on January 10, 1946, in Okolona, to James Henry and Hester Lee Hooks. He was a graduate of Fannie Carter High School and attended Rust College. He married Joe Helen Hooks, in Okolona and worked in furniture manufacturing, for over 30 years.
Isaac truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; conversing with family and friends, and spending time with his nieces and nephews. He loved being around people, laughing and playing cards with his devoted friends. Hooks is predeceased by his parents, James Henry and Hester Lee Hooks, and his sisters Clara Ayers, Dorothy Whitfield, brothers, Robert Hooks, Gaston Hook, William Hooks, and niece Delois Luizzi. Hooks is survived by his wife Joe Helen Hooks, daughter Laquana Gunn (Amory, MS), granddaughter Justis Sanders (Hattiesburg, MS), grandson Larry Sanders Jr (Amory, MS), and great-grandson Nolan Gray (Hattiesburg, MS), sister Mary Montgomery (Albany, NY), brothers Henry Hooks (Tupelo, MS) and Isaiah Hooks (Albany, NY), his caretakers, who were also his niece and nephew Rosalyn (Calvin) Lacy of Okolona, MS.
He leaves to cherish his memories a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives, and close friends.
