Mrs. Josie Chandler Baker, 96, died Saturday, May 13, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her family and love ones. Josie was born August 27, 1920 to the parents of the late Abb and Minnie Mae Smith Chandler. She was a seamstress for Seminole, homemaker, devoted mother and a very good cook for her family. She was a member of Faith Bible Baptist Church of Houston.
Josie is survived by three daughters, Glenda Pumphrey (Raymond) of Acworth, GA, Kay Wright of Pittsboro, MS and Bobbie Jean Landreth (Ben) of Vardaman, MS. Two sons, Sammy Baker (Anne) of Faulkner, MS and Benny Baker (Cecil) of Houston, MS. Two sister, Dorothy Langford of Vardaman, MS and Sybil Whitt of Houston, MS. Fourteen gandchildren, Jane Ferguson, Rose Burkeen, Brenda Young, Cindy Ward, Andy Landreth, Amanda Dyer, Jack Pumphrey, Priscilla Hill, Lana Ayers, Dewyatt Winter, Steven Winter, Christy Whitehead, Paula Patton and Bryan Wright. Forty two great grandchildren, twenty great -great grandchildren and one great-great- great grandchild.
Preceded in death by her husband; Ruble Baker, three daughters; Joann Johnson, Barbara Winter , Patsy Baker, two sons; Ruble Baker, Jr., Billy W. Baker, two sisters; Jeanie Baker, Eva Rogers, three brothers; George Chandler, Joe Ed Chander, Thomas Chandler, two grandsons; Jeffrey Winter and Mark Wright.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 14, 2017 from 5:00PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home in Vardaman, MS. The funeral will be Monday, May 15, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Johnny Cherry officiating with burial to follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ruble Baker, Andy Landreth, Andrew Landreth, Cameron Pumphrey, Jack Pumphrey, Dwight Winter, Steven Winter and Bryan Wright.
