Nancy Faith Petros, 71, of Oxford took her first breath in Heaven late in the evening on June 14, 2019 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. She was born on July 12, 1947 in the Potlockney Community to the late Jimmy William Gregory and Johnnie Sharp Gregory.
Nancy retired from the University of Mississippi after two and half decades as an administrative assistant. She made history in Lafayette County as a member of the last graduating class at Yocona High School. Nancy had many hobbies such as, working in the dirt cultivating a beautiful garden, using her creativity to fabricate unique crafts and sewing projects. Above all her crafting and cultivating, Nancy deeply cherished her grandchildren and made sure they were loved and never went without. More importantly, she praised and worshiped her Lord at New El Bethel Baptist Church where she served as a member.
Nancy leaves behind her devoted husband James Petros; One daughter, Debbie Verret (Johann) of Collierville, Tennessee; Two Granddaughters, Abbie Verret and Isabelle Verret; One Sister, Jeanie (Danny) Harwell of Oxford, Mississippi.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jimmy William Gregory and Johnnie Sharp Gregory; One Brother, Butch Gregory; Three Sisters, Lura McDonald, Michelle Barlow Poynor, and Tina Foster.
The family will receive friends on Monday June 17, 2019 from 5:00P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce. In addition to the visitation a celebration of life will take place on Tuesday June 18, 2019 at New El Bethel Baptist Church in Oxford,with the celebration beginning at 2:00 P.M. Bro. Bobby Snow will lead the service. Al McDonald, James Petros Jr.,Johann Verret,Johnny McDonald, Josh Roggie, and Roe Gregory will serve as pallbearers carrying Nancy to rest in the New El Bethel Cemetery.
