Mrs. Geraldine Bridges Turman, 89, passed away on April 22, 2020 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Geraldine was born on January 23, 1931, in Webster County, the daughter of the late Preston Young and Ruby Bridges Young. She worked as a Pharmacy Clerk for 30 years. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in West Point and she loved her church family. She also loved to cook, read and grow flowers. Her family was her hobby. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She married William Andrew Turman, Jr. on November 18, 1950 in Webster County. He predeceased her on June 21, 2002. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, James T. Young.
Due to current health concerns, a private family graveside service will be on Sunday, April 26, 2020, from Greenwood Cemetery with Reverend Jeff Shannon officiating. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Survivors include her two sons, Stephen Turman (Debbie) of West Point and Tim Turman (Janet) of Pheba: four grandchildren; Carey Turman, Stella Turman, Taylor Turman, and Dash Turman: two brothers: Carl Young (Margie) of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Paul Young (Celeste) of Hattiesburg, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Honorary Pallbearers will be North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice Staff and Nurses, Dr. Edmund Miller and Staff, the Ken Harrelson Family, Jimmy Morgan, Sam Wiggs, Andy Williams, and her Church Family at Christ United Methodist Church.
