Carolina Community – Calvin Anderson Ritter, 72, met his Lord and Savior and was reunited with his wife in heaven on May 12, 2020. Born in Tupelo, MS, on June 4, 1947, he was the son the late Saville Anderson Ritter and Amanda Murrah Boozer Ritter.
Anderson attended Carolina School as a child and later graduated from Fulton High School. He went on to further his education by obtaining an Associate’s Degree from IJC. Anderson enjoyed his school years and always looked forward to reunions with old classmates. He met the love of his life, Betty Phillips Ritter, and they were married for many years. God blessed them with a daughter, a grandchild, great grandchildren, and many other people in their lives whom they considered family.
A great provider, he worked in manufacturing at Super Sagless for over twenty five years. He was a hard worker and was strong willed and opinionated on most subjects. A man who had great faith, he was a longtime member of the Carolina Church. He loved the Lord, his church family, and all of his community members in Carolina. Anderson was so caring and always kept track of others to ensure everyone was good. He was blessed by God with so many close friends and family.
A man who was all things Carolina Community, he enjoyed looking into the history of the community and just being connected with everyone around. He helped create the Historical Room at the Old Carolina Schoolhouse. The Heritage Days and Hee Haw show in Carolina Community always brought him great joy. Anderson was an avid Coca Cola collector and he was glad to show others his collection pieces. In his free time, he liked to get updated on other by browsing facebook as well as listen to Old Country and Gospel music.
The love and memories he gave throughout his lifetime will be cherished for many years to come. His research and contributions to his community will be appreciated by many future generations. The family has a sense of peace knowing that he is with his Lord and Savior and that he is again by Betty’s side.
Anderson is survived by his daughter, Catina Ann Donahue (Wade), New Albany; grandchild, Cody Donahue (Amber), New Albany; two great grandchildren, Kaylnn and Dawson Donahue, New Albany; sister-in-law, Joyce Head, Amory; niece, Evanglina Stanford (Jim); nephew, Jamy Head (Holly); several cousins.
In addition to his parents, Anderson was preceded in death, by only 11 days, by his loving wife, Betty Phillips Ritter.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, on Thursday, May 14, 2020, at Hatley Cemetery, Hatley, MS, with Bro. Gene Conwill and Bro Larry Harrison officiating. Pallbearers will be Cody Donahue, Brent Carter, Jim Stanford, John Bryant Stanford, Bryce Stanford, Jamy and Calvin Head, and Jimmy Wiygul. A private family visitation will be held prior at the funeral home in Amory.
