Mr. Curtis Reed Davis, 78, died Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at his home in Oxford. The funeral service will be Thursday, July 30, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Thomas officiating.  Burial will follow in North Oxford Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.  *In accordance with guidelines issued by the State of Mississippi and the City of Oxford, social distancing guidelines will be followed and face coverings are required to enter the building*

Born in Ludlow, MS to the late Curtis Richard and Luvillia Presley Davis, Reed was retired as Business and Finance Director and Assistant Athletic Director at the University of Mississippi. While a student at Ole Miss he was a member of the 1962 National Championship football team and played in two Sugar Bowls and one Cotton Bowl. He enjoyed playing music with his friends in the Blackjack and Ecru communities and was a member of North Oxford Baptist Church. In keeping with his love of sports he was a regular referee for High School football games for 25 years.  Reed also enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sondra Braddy Davis.

Survivors include his daughters, Katrina Davis Cousar and her husband, Jeff, of Oxford, MS and DeLisa Davis of Oxford, MS; his son, Richie Davis and his wife, Hope, of Hernando, MS; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions in Reed’s memory may be made to North Oxford Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 1700, Oxford, MS  38655.

  1. Dear Davis family, you have my deepest condolences during this time of bereavement. The loss of a loved one can be hard to deal with but you can have a measure of comfort and it comes from Gods word the bible. 2Corinthians 1:3,4 says that “God comforts us in all our trials.” Isn’t that wonderful to know and Acts 24:15 says “There is going to be a resurrection” so you can see your loved one again. I hope this was encouraging to the family.
