TUPELO – Henry Louis Williams, 85, died Saturday, August 1, 2020 at North MS Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Born in the Mississippi Delta Community of Burnett, MS on July 4, 1935, Henry was the oldest son of 12 children born to the late Tommy Williams and Ethel Wood Williams. He worked briefly in Memphis where he met his late wife, Shirley Bell and they married January 4, 1964. They soon settled in the Verona/Tupelo area and lived their remaining lives here. An over-the-road truck driver most all his life, Henry loved the open road, the great outdoors, fishing and yard work, and playing dominoes. A simple, independent-willed man, he had a witty, talkative nature that made people laugh or get out of his way. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Verona.
A service celebrating his life will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2020 at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Rev. Dr. David Hamilton officiating. Private burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 11 AM-service time, Tuesday only, at Holland-Tupelo Chapel which is honored to be serving their friends.
