Hubert Lee Gann, 84, of Vardaman, Mississippi passed from this life on Sunday, September 13, 2020, at his home on East Avenue. Born on September 29,1935, in Chickasaw County, Hubert was one of eight children born to the late Bobbie Lee Gann and Gertrude Criddle Gann.
Hubert married his one true love, Monette Hicks, on July 24, 1959. The couple spent a timeless 61 years together filled with many precious memories. He retired from the Franklin Corporation after many years of service. Aside from his career as a husband and working man, Hubert found joy in working outdoors in his treasured garden. Hubert met all the biblical characteristics of a deacon, and as a true man of God he served as Deacon Emeritus at First Baptist Church of Vardaman. In connection with his practices as a deacon, Hubert taught children’s Sunday School; training children in the way they should go. Hubert didn’t simply pass away; he held the cure to death in his soul, an active relationship with Jesus.
Hubert leaves behind his loving wife, Monette Hicks Gann of Vardaman; two brothers: William Franklin Gann of Houston, Mississippi, and Bobby Lewis Gann of Starkville, Mississippi; a loving circle of nieces and nephews: Dayka Briscoe of Oxford, Mississippi; Kara Barbee of Oxford, Mississippi, Micah Briscoe of Oxford, Mississippi, and Chandler Kate Barbee of Oxford, Mississippi.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bobbie Lee Gann and Gertrude Criddle Gann, sisters, Mavis Bell, Mary Jo Baird, Barbara Ann McKibben, brothers, Walter Gann, and Rueben Gann.
