Athens Community- Larry D. Sullivan, 72, passed away at his residence on Monday, November 30, 2020. Larry was born on March 21, 1948 in Monroe County to the late Boudie D Sullivan and Mildred Ross Sullivan Wiseman and he attended Aberdeen School. With international tensions high, Larry thought it his duty to serve the country he so much loved and enlisted in the United States Army. After his basic training, Larry served in Vietnam earning several the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star Medal and Expert Rifle Badge. He also served a tour in Okinawa, Japan. For more than two decades, he owned and operated Sullivan Trucking. On June 20, 1992 he married Dusty Colburn. Throughout his life, Larry exemplified the second greatest commandment of our Lord Jesus, Love your neighbor as you love yourself. This was his guide in life that led him to meet the countless needs of many family, friends, neighbors and strangers alike. To say he loved his family is an understatement, although his grandchildren and great grands were his pride and joy. He was a member of the First Pentecostal Church of Aberdeen.
He is survived by his wife of over 28 years, Dusty Sullivan, Athens Community; daughters, Tina Allen (Mike), LA, Jeanette Goodrich and Latricia Rizo, both of FL; son, Michael Colburn (Kim), Hatley; sisters, Sarah Allen, Aberdeen and Janice Downs (Jimmy), FL; brother, Danny Cole, Germany; 7 grandchildren, a host of great grands, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is pre4ceded in death by his stepfather, Lewis Wiseman; son, Daniel Sullivan; sister, Lynn Cole; brother, Jerry Sullivan and a brother in law, Ray Allen.
Funeral Services will be held at Cleveland Moffett Funeral Home on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at 2 PM with Rev. Rickey Bowen, Rev. Mike Allen and Rev. Billy Tallant officiating. Burial will follow in Greenbrier Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Josh Allen, Anthony Colburn, Caleb Allen, Tim Allen, Blake Allen and David Sorrells. Honorary pallbearers will be Curtis Allen and Bobby Fretwell.
Visitation will be on Wednesday Evening at the funeral home from 5-7 PM.
