Opal Dennis (Robertson) Knox

Mrs. Opal Dennis Robertson Knox, 85, transitioned on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Union County Health & Rehabilitation in New Albany. Opal Dennis Robertson Knox was born on June 17, 1935 to the late Robert and Lillie Mae Robertson in New Albany, Mississippi.

Opal confessed her hope in Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of Union Grove Baptist Church, where she served as  a member of the choir and also the treasurer of the choir.

She was employed at Master-built for 25+ years until her retirement. Opal  also worked as a Housekeeper for many years for many families in the area. She loved cooking, cleaning, visiting family and friends, and taking care of others throughout the community. She was an active member of the Heroines of Jericho.

Opal leaves to cherish her memories her caregivers; her great-niece, Marlyce "Lisa" Cook, and the Union County Health and Rehab staff. Opal had no children of her own, but was a MOTHER to many, namely; Keith Mosley, Marlyce "Lisa" Cook, Thailand Cook, Monica Cook, Tyquan and Zakieah Berry, Shavarus Cook, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Opal was preceded in death by her husband; Joe L. Knox, her parents; Robert and Lillie Mae Robertson, three brothers; Ardis Robertson, Joe Lewis Kelly and Dewitt Robertson, three sisters; Essie Lou Robertson, Willie Mae Nesbit and Olivia Cook Jeffries.

Services will be held on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at 11a.m., at New Birth Community Church in New Albany with Pastor Jonathan Tucker delivering the eulogy. Burial will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery in New Albany. Serenity-Simmons Funeral Home of New Albany is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be on Saturday, December 26, 2020 from 10a.m., until time of the service at the church.
