Ammie Jean (Story) Armstrong

July 8, 1935 ~ January 2, 2021 (age 85)

Mrs. Ammie Jean Armstrong, 85, transitioned on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at her residence in Ripley, MS. Ammie Jean Story Armstrong was born on July 8, 1935 in Falkner, MS to Will and Sally Marie Story.

She attended school at Ruckersville School. She was the wife of George Peterson. They were the parents of eight children. They left Falkner, MS and resided in Milwaukee, WI. Being the phenomenal woman that she was, she worked hard and raised the children as a single parent. Later on, she married Yancy Armstrong, Jr. She attended Greater Utopian Pentecostal Church, where she gave her life to the Lord. After 40 years, Ammie moved to Ripley, MS. She then continued to serve the Lord, at St. James Church of God in Christ.
She is preceded in death by her husband; Yancy Armstrong, Jr., three children; Curtis, Connie and Larry Peterson, her parents; Will and Sally Marie Story, her siblings; Nellie Ruth Story, Willie Story, Jr., Jimmie Dell Story and and Morris Stacy.

She leaves to cherish her memories her five children; Glenda Williams (Joe) of Blue Mountain, MS, Lesa Peterson Marks of Ripley, MS, Nancy Scroggins of Milwaukee, WI, Lamar Peterson of Ripley, MS, Jacqueline Cole (Ray) of Memphis, TN, and Chenellen Peterson of Milwaukee, WI, three sisters; Catherine Cowan, of Ripley, MS, MeaRene Gillard of Falkner, MS and Lila Faye (Earnest) Liggins of Olive Branch, MS, eighteen grandchildren, forty-three great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 8, 2021 from 4-6p.m., at Serenity-Simmons Funeral Home Chapel in New Albany. Burial will take place at Ruckersville Cemetery in Faulkner, MS. Serenity-Simmons Funeral Home of New Albany is in charge of the arrangements.
