Richard B. Hazelwood, 99, of West Point, MS, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2021.
Richard was born on August 31, 1921, in West Point, to Claude and Lallie Hazelwood. He was a graduate of West Point High School. Richard served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was an active member of First Baptist Church and served for many years as a Deacon.
He was a cabinetmaker by profession as well as a master craftsman with wood.
Richard is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bobbie Jean Hazelwood, daughter Carla Dobbs and her husband David of Bainbridge, GA; granddaughter Nina Cathleen Kimball, her husband Jason, and great grandson LInus of Atlanta, GA; sister Carolyn Jones of West Point; sister Claudette Sansing and her husband Barry of West Point; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother John Ralph Hazelwood.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of West Point and to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
