Marshall Lee Maxcy

Marshall Lee Maxcy, 61, died April 28, 2021 at his home in Starkville. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 8, at 2 p.m. at Osborn Community Church (formerly Osborn Presbyterian Church).
Marshall was born on October 23, 1959 in Deland, Florida, to Stewart and Stella “Jackie” Coleman Maxcy. He had one brother, Stewart Maxcy.

Marshall was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 and, after graduating from Deland High School in 1977, served as a boatswain’s mate.
He earned an associate degree in small engine mechanics and had a career as a machinist. He also owned and operated a bait shop with his father for a few years in Daytona, Florida.
After residing in Florida throughout his childhood and much of his adult life, Marshall moved to Oktibbeha County, Mississippi, and married Amanda Matthews Maxcy in 2005. He was a loving and devoted husband, and he deeply loved his entire family. He also was a dedicated caregiver for his brother-in-law.
Marshall was a craftsman who enjoyed working with his hands. He was skilled at woodworking, repurposing antique furniture, and crafting custom knives and leatherwork. He also enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, and researching genealogy and unusual antiques.

Marshall is survived by his wife Amanda Maxcy, as well as his stepsons Aaron Orr and his wife Maria, and Matthew Orr and his wife Summer, and two grandchildren, Liam and Levi Orr.
