Bobby Wayne Mays, 83, passed away peacefully at the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS on May 11, 2021. A memorial service will be held on May 27, 2021, at Church of the Crossroads in Corinth, MS. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 5:30 PM, with a service immediately following.
Mr. Mays was born on February 21, 1938, in Rienzi, MS. His father was James Emmett Mays, and his mother was LucyBobby Wayne Mays, 83, passed away peacefully at the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS on May 11, 2021. Mr. Mays was born on February 21, 1938, in Rienzi, MS. His father was James Emmett Mays, and his mother was Lucy Lillian Maddox Mays. He left the United States Air Force to marry the love of his life, Nola Sue Ward Mays. They were married 59 years, and raised two adopted daughters. Bob retired from the Memphis District US Corps of Engineers as the Director of Human Resources. He was dedicated to his faith in Jesus, and spent his retired life serving the Church of the Crossroads, along with anyone else that crossed his path. He was an avid family historian, who seldom met a stranger. If they were, they didn’t stay that way long. He loved his family and friends well, and leaves a legacy of faith that will live on.
He is survived by his wife, Nola Sue Ward Mays; his oldest daughter, Amy Belinda Mays, and her family Mandy Lane, Jamie, Cody, James and Embry; his youngest daughter, Katrina Lynn Mays Morton, her husband Russell Morton, and their children, Cole, Jack and Nola Anne; his sister, Nancy Mays; his brother, Paul Keith Mays, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Lucy Lillian Maddox Mays, father, James Emmett Mays, older sister, Willadean Trumbore, and older brother, James Emmett Mays, Jr.
