Cynthia Montgomery Cortez passed away on October 24, 2021 at her home in Mantee. She was 70 years old. She was born on August 20, 1951 in Pheba, MS. She married Edward Cortez on April 10, 1971.
She lived in California for several years and moved back to Mississippi in 1989. She enjoyed working with children. Cyndy was a beloved teacher at Hebron Christian School for many years, teaching children of all ages reading, science, math, and most importantly, about the love of Jesus. She was a faithful supporter of Hebron athletes, rarely missing a basketball or football game.
She is survived by one daughter, Kari Lawrence and one granddaughter, Kamryn Lawrence, both of Carthage, MS, one sister, Deborah Jackson, her niece, Courtney Jackson, great niece Summer Roberson and great nephew, Dennis Roberson, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Estelle Montgomery and on August 4, 2021 by the love of her life, Edward Cortez, her husband of fifty years and one brother, Robert Montgomery.
Visitation will be held at Pheba Baptist Church Saturday, November 6, 2021 from 12:00-1:00 P.M. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 P.M. at the church.
