Mary Kay Kiamie Churchill, 79, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2021 at The Magnolia at Oxford Commons. There will be a private graveside service at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Oxford, Mississippi with Father Joe Tonos officiating.
Kay was born on September 18, 1942 to Alexander Joseph Kiamie, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Noe Kiamie in Pascagoula, Mississippi. She was a 1960 graduate of University High School where she was homecoming queen, secretary of the senior class, a cheerleader, and a member of Who’s Who. She was a graduate of Ole Miss where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.
She was married for 52 years to the love of her life Robert Churchill. Along with her family, she owned and operated Kiamie Enterprises. Kay was a certified bowling instructor and enjoyed bowling, music, dancing and her many friends. She enjoyed being a hostess of many high school reunions. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church of Oxford, MS.
Kay is survived by her two daughters Karen Elizabeth Copple (Wes) and Mary Christine Medlock (Trey) of Oxford, MS, four grandchildren Kathryn Lindsey Copple of Memphis, TN, William Ryan Copple of Oxford, MS, Robert Parker Adamson of Baton Rouge, LA, Michael Joel Adamson of Tallahasse, FL, one brother Alexander Joseph Kiamie, Jr. and many nieces and nephews.
Kay was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and one younger brother.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. John’s Catholic Church, 403 University Avenue, Oxford, MS in honor of Eva Bodnar, who visited and administered communion for many years.
