James Alvin Owens, Jr., 60, passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville. He was born October 29, 1961, to James Alvin Owens, Sr. and Shelby J. Northcutt Owens. James enjoyed collecting coins and working on cars. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Thorn Community.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 13, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Booneville Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022, at 3:00 PM at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Bro. Charlie Hamblin will be officiating. Booneville Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
James is survived by his two sons, Jamie Owens (Carrie) of Booneville and Jordan Owens of Houston, MS; one daughter, Magen McCusker (Mike) of Madison, MS; his mother, Shelby Owens of Booneville; brother, Keith Owens of Booneville; sister, Cindy Chase of Corinth, MS; two granddaughters, Maryann Owens and Sophia Owens both of Booneville; and the mother of his children, Martha McVey Owens of Houston, MS.
He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Ann Shockley.

Dear Owens family, I’m sorry for your loss and you have my deepest condolences. The loss of a loved one brings great pain and sorrow but you can gain comfort from Gods word the Bible. Acts 24:15 says “There is going to be a resurrection” so you can see your dear loved one again. A promise from our loving Heavenly Father. I hope this was a source of encouragement for the family.

My bestfriend is sophia owens and she cried about her grandaddy all night long. I ended up stopped being fri ends with her because of how much she cried about him because it became annoying
