Frances (Patsy) Gatlin Parrish

Frances (Patsy) Gatlin Parrish, 89, passed away on May 5, 2022 at the Carrington in Starkville, MS. She was a homemaker and member of Meadowview Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher for over 20 years and also worked with the prayer ministry. She also tutored international students.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Earl Parrish, Jr.; daughters, Cathy and Laura Parrish; parents, Eugene and Sadie Mae Price Gatlin; brother, Bobby Gatlin; and sister, Loraine Gatlin Sanders.

She is survived by her daughter, Diane Parrish Sparks (Allen) of Cedar Bluff, MS; sons, Robert Eugene Parrish (Debbie) of Fayette, AL, Wesley Earl Parrish (Stephanie) of Starkville, MS, and Art Parrish of Starkville, MS; 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren; and 2 nieces.

Visitation is scheduled for Monday, May 9, 2022 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS, with the funeral service immediately following in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Robert Parrish and Rev. Jason Middleton will conduct the service. Burial will be in Oddfellows Cemetery in Starkville.

  1. Dear Parrish family, one of the saddest things someone can experience is the death of a loved one. Did you know the Bible compares death to sleep? (Psalms 13:3) Just as a person who is asleep is unaware of what is happening around him, the dead are not conscious of anything. There is a promise of hope in the Bible. Our loving God has promised to awaken the dead, as if from sleep, and give them life again. Acts 24:15 says, “There is going to be a resurrection.” The bible offers comfort for those who are grieving and I hope this brings you comfort as well.
