A service to celebrate the life of Mary Jewel Leonard, 93, will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday at Wheeler Grove Baptist Church with the committal service to follow in the Wheeler Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Thursday from 12:00 pm until service time all at Wheeler Grove Baptist Church. Bro. Kara Blackard and Bro. Josh Westmoreland will officiate the service and Steve Gaines and D.J. Farris will be sharing family remarks.

Mrs. Leonard died on June 6, 2022 at her residence. She was born on October 9, 1928 in Alcorn County to the late Harry and Ophelia Green Allen. She worked at Weaver’s Pants Factory, Hosiery Mill, Vendo and retired from Kimberly Clark. She was a longtime member of Wheeler Grove Baptist Church and at the time of her passing was the oldest member. She loved raising a garden, working in her yard, and cherished any opportunity to cook a hot meal for her family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Dewey Leonard (Dorothy); daughters, Linda Crum (Morris) and Sheila Farris (Dwight); daughter-in-law, Sherra Leonard; grandchildren, Ann Leonard Crum (Tommy), Candi Crum Gaines (Steve), Carrie Stevens Dobbs (Cory), Julie Leonard Little (Justin), Katie Crum Rickman (Nick), Malarie Leonard Satterfield (Caleb) and D.J. Farris (Kella); great-grandchildren, Ashley Crum Wilbanks (Dustin), Chelsey Crum Woodruff (Matthew), Anna Kate Gaines Wilbanks (Connor), Lily Brooke Little, John Thomas Gaines, Maddox Rickman, Elliott Dobbs, Cutler Rickman, Oakli Kate Rickman, Cooper Dobbs, Everett Farris, Samuel Benton Satterfield, Caroline Farris and Shelbie Brooke Satterfield; great-great granddaughter, Rilynn Woodruff; and a host of other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vance Leonard; son, Donnie Leonard; granddaughter, Jennifer Leonard; brothers, James Reed Allen, Lawrence Allen; and a sister, Barbara McDowell.

Pallbearers will be Steve Gaines, Nick Rickman, Justin Little, Caleb Satterfield, D.J. Farris, Cory Dobbs and Connor Wilbanks. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Crum, Ann Leonard Crum, Chelsey Woodruff, Ashley Wilbanks, Bobby Inman and Harry Lee Allen.
