Mary Ann “Miss Mary” Black Jordan

Mary Ann Black Jordan, known by her family and friends as “Miss Mary”, passed away at the age of 70 in the early hours of Sunday, June 12, 2022 at her residence. She was born June 25, 1951 in Union County to Hubert and Ruby Rowell Black. She considered herself retired from the Post Office as a rural route carrier, but over the years, she had many titles, such as, a bus driver, a substitute teacher, a Bell South installer, a floral designer and a member of the Homemaker’s Club. She supported any group or activity in which her children or grandchildren were involved, like the school band, soccer and 4-H. She was a member of First Baptist Church of New Albany. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother and will be missed greatly.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 12:00 p.m. at United Funeral Service with Bro. Tommy Peters officiating. Burial will be at Glenfield Memorial Park. United Funeral Service is honored to be entrusted with these arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, Doug Jordan; their daughter, Amy Harris (Michael); their son, Rusty Jordan (Melissa); a daughter-in-law, Odesta Jordan; her sister, Frances Turner; eight grandchildren: Kaylee, Lacey, Jordan, Brittany, Ashley, Sebastian, Damian and Johnny; and by ten great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Matthew Jordan; a granddaughter, Jordan Harris; and a great grandson, Noah Essary.
Pallbearers will be Tim Page, Doc Landsdell, David Mills, Carl Love, Donnie Page, Carey Adair, Kevin Foxx, Mark Jordan, Wayne Still, Nathan McClellan and Charlie Hancock. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Treadaway and Ronnie Jernigan.
