Ruby Mask Christian was born on Nov.9, l940 in the Pontocola Community and lived there the whole of her life. She was the daughter of the late V. B. Mask and Eunice Wilson Mask. She departed this life for her life in eternity on Friday, July 8, 2022 from Sanctuary Hospice House. Ruby graduated from Shannon High School with a perfect attendance record. She was the widow of J. B.
Christian. She was an independent woman unafraid of work. She spent her first 30 plus years working for Mid-South Packers in Tupelo and the last 20 plus years at Vita Foam. A character in her own right, she enjoyed playing slot machines, working and her family. She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother and friend to many, whom she kept up with constantly on the phone. Ruby was a lifelong member of the Pontocola Baptist Church.
A Private family graveside service will take place at 8:30 am Sunday, July 10, 2022 at Pontocola Cemetery, next to her longtime home, with her Pastor, Bro. Sammy Hardin, officiating. Burial will follow there. Holland Funeral Directors is honored to be serving their longtime friends.
She is survived by her only daughter, Marily Maher and her favorite son in law, Edward “Ed” of Okolona; the one and only grandson who she doted over even into adulthood, Joseph Maher and wife, Lindsey of Pontotoc and 2 great grandchildren, Ella and Ada.
