Mrs. Eleanor Rikard Robbins, 90, died Sunday, August 21, 2022, at New Albany Health and Rehab. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at College Hill Cemetery with Rev. Alan Cochet officiating.
Mrs. Robbins was born on January 27, 1932, to the late Ira and Dale Rikard. A lifelong resident of Oxford, she was a devout member of College Hill Presbyterian Church. With a strong belief in providing for one’s self, Mrs. Robbins was a hunter and fisher, and grew her own vegetables. From a young age, she taught her son to hunt and fish, instilling in him the same love that she had for the outdoors. Mrs. Robbins would then prepare all of the family meals from their harvests. A gifted quilter, she always had a project in hand. Chosen to adorn her casket is one of her favorite quilts that she made by hand. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Robbins was preceded in death by her husband, James Hugh Robbins; five sisters, Hazel Irene Rikard, Dora Adeline Rikard, Linda Rikard Williams, Grace Rikard, and Annie Kathrine Rikard; and one brother, Ira Edward Rikard.
Mrs. Robbins is survived by her son, Norris Robbins of Blue Springs, MS; brother, Kenneth Rikard and his wife, Erlene of Oxford, MS; and three grandchildren, Larry Dean Robbins of Blue Springs, MS, Jessica Wigginton and her husband, Chris of Tremont, MS, and Kimberly Melton and her husband, Corey of Mantachie, MS.
Expressions of sympathy or memorial contributions in Mrs. Robbins’ memory may be made to the College Hill Presbyterian Church Rebuilding Fund, 399 CR 102, Oxford, MS or online at https://chpcoxford.org/.
