Shirley Maxine (Rogers) Rose

Tupelo-Shirley Maxine Rogers Rose, 88, a great ole soul, departed this life to live eternally with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 24, 2022.  Shirley had been a resident of Tupelo Nursing and Rehabilitation Center the last two years.  Born in Guntown on February 17, 1934 to the late Arthur Curtis Rogers and Eufa Whitaker Rogers,  she attended the public schools there. She spent most of her working life as a seamstress in area furniture factories with much of her years at Westwood Industries in Tupelo.  A lifelong Baptist, Shirley last attended Hughes Chapel Baptist Church.  She enjoyed playing the piano, was a master seamstress, loved gospel music and Bible word-find.  A Godly woman, she was devoted to her family all her days and could never do enough for them.

A service celebrating her life will be held at 2 PM Today (Friday), August 26, 2022 at Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo with her great grandson, Isaac Floyd officiating.  Private burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery near Guntown.  Visitation will be from Noon-service time on Friday only at Holland-Tupelo which is honored to be serving their friends.

Shirley is survived by her grandchildren; Thomas Floyd and wife, Lisa of Tupelo; Darlene Samples of Baldwyn and Cassandra Wooldridge and husband, Darryal of Mantachie; Nanny Roses’ beloved  8 great grandchildren, Kayla, Dustin, Chelsy, Blake, Dallas, Isaac, Zane and Jacob.  7 great great grandchildren, Anabel, Caden, Avalee, Paislee, Braylyn, Hunter and Ellie-Ray; a sister, Geraldine Landsdell and husband, Jim of Mooreville and a brother, James Rogers and wife, Glenda of Guntown.  Shirley was preceded in death by her parents;  husband, Jerry Rose in 1999, who she married on February 7, 1976; her only son, Charles Floyd, who died in 2010; a sister, Louise; and 3 brothers, Lester, Dexter and Earl.
