Jesse Daniels “Jay” Danford, III

Mr. Jesse Daniels “Jay” Danford, III, 74, died Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at his home in Oxford, MS. The funeral will be Thursday, October 6, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Gerald Shook officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 12:00 Noon in West Hall of Waller Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Oxford Memorial Cemetery.

Jesse was born April 1, 1948, to the late Jesse and Gladys Danford. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. As co-owner of Southland Body and Paint Shop, Jesse was well known in the Oxford and Lafayette County community for his hard work and attention to detail. With a passion for restored vehicles and hot rods, he loved attending car shows, and was a member of Delta Street Rods and 4 Buds. Some of Jesse’s favorite things in life were traveling, fresh oysters, his sweet dog, Bella, and time spent on his tractor. Most importantly, he loved his wife of 54 years, Shirley.

Jesse is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley Lee Danford of Oxford, MS; son, Michael Jay Danford and his wife, Elizabeth of Oxford, MS; sister, Peggy Ottaway and husband, Sonny of Chesapeake, VA; three grandchildren, Nichole Jordan and husband Tyler, Courtney Gardner and husband, Shaun, and Jordan Danford; as well as two great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to send their greatest appreciation to Dr. Miller and his entire staff for the care they provided to Jesse over the last few years.
