Janet Wilson Berry, at age 77, departed her earthly pilgrimage on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 from Sunshine Nursing Center in Pontotoc where she had briefly resided. Ms. Berry was born in Bakersfield, California on September 15, l945. She spent much of her growing up years in Jackson, MS. where she graduated from Provine High School. Janet furthered her education at the University of Southern Mississippi where she graduated with a B.A. in Early Childhood Education. She spent her working life managing Child Care Centers in Jackson, Mississippi. In 2010, she moved to Tupelo to be near her son, Joel. Janet had a passionate love for children and their development and education. She enjoyed collecting dolls and collectible antiques. An avid reader of good literature, she was a remarkable Mother to Gina and Joel.
A service celebrating her life will be held at 10 AM Saturday at St. Paul Antiochian Church (1008 East Main Street, Tupelo, MS. 38804) with Father David Bibeau officiating. Burial will follow in the Unity Presbyterian Church Cemetery east of Plantersville. Holland Funeral Directors is honored to be serving their friends.
Janet is survived by her children, Gina Arefi of Dallas, Texas and Joel Berry of Tupelo. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cliff and Maxine Mikles Wilson and a brother, Gene Wilson.
