Mother Mae Cathern Anderson, 90, transitioned on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at her residence in Oxford, MS.
Mae Cathern Anderson was the 2nd of three siblings born to Samuel and Mary Louise Price Anderson on February 27, 1932. She attended West St. Peter United Methodist Church School and completed the 8th grade and desired to continue but there was not a high school in the area where her family lived. She received Christ in her early teens and joined St. Peter United Methodist Church. She later joined and continued in the Church of Jesus Christ in the early 80's under the leadership of Elder Willie Smith where she was an usher and later a Church Mother. Initially, she worked along with her family as a sharecropper which proved to be very unprofitable. She then found domestic jobs which included cleaning, cooking, and babysitting. She worked hard to help support her parents and her children. Mother Anderson was vigilant about keeping up with family history and keeping the family together. She leaves a legacy of love for God, family, and friends, always admonishing us to love and serve the Lord. During her final days she was singing "Thank you Lord, thank you Jesus, help me Lord, help me Lord, yes Lord, I love You Lord, Amen."
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Mary Coleman of Oxford ,MS and Betty (Levan) Wadlington of Racine, WI, bonus daughter, Hibernia Anderson, Two sons, Calvin and Glenn Anderson both of Oxford, MS and one bonus son, Euka (Toynica) Wadlington.
