Bernice Haley Voyles

A service to celebrate the life of Bernice Haley Voyles, 100 years young, will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday at Memorial Funeral Home with burial to follow in Magnolia Gardens. Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm until service time on Saturday. Doug Greenway will officiate the service.

Mrs. Voyles passed away on January 30, 2023 at Mississippi Care Center. She was born on June 21, 1922 to the late Ed and Vera Haley. She graduated from Farmington High School. She started work at the Corinth courthouse, then to Memphis, then back to Corinth where she worked at Bellsouth as a switchboard operator. In 1944, she married Olen Voyles. When he passed away in 2020, they had been married for 75 years. She was a faithful member of the Booneville Church of Christ for over 50 years. She cooked food and delivered flowers to the sick and shut-ins.

She is survived by her children, Janice Nowell (Lennis) of Corinth, Billy Voyles (Diane) of Walnut, Jimmy Voyles of Saltillo, Roger Voyles of Tupelo and Carolyn Carver of Dallas, TX; eight grandchildren, Emily Kendrick (Dale), Tim Voyles, Melissa Whitten (Greg), Keith Voyles (Jamie), Mark Voyles, Lisa Byers (John) and Christin Gerold (Bryan); eighteen great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Margarite Miller and Maxine Meeks.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Olen Voyles; grandson, David Nowell; brothers, Lloyd and Gene Haley; and sister, Evelyn Tucker.

Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandson.
