Violet Mitchell

Service to celebrate the life of Violet Mitchell, 96, will be held Friday at 1:00 pm at Memorial Funeral Home with burial to follow in Magnolia Gardens. Visitation will begin at 11:30 until service time on Friday. Bro. Kara Blackard will officiate the service.

Mrs. Mitchell passed away on January 31, 2023, at her residence with her daughters at her side. She was born on February 27, 1926 to the late Lee Roy and Angie Victoria Wages. She was a graduate of Rienzi School and a homemaker who took great care of her family. She had a servant's heart and was a longtime member of Wheeler Grove Baptist Church. She was involved with the women's ministry, Sunday School department and Vacation Bible School. She was known for her Italian Cream Cake at church socials. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, quilting, sewing, canning foods and was a fabulous cook.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda Harland (Bill) and Donna Long; grandchildren, Delise Peebles (John), Dana Harland and Hannah Quinn (Brandon); great-grandchildren, Gracie Barnes (Scott), Duke Peebles (Casey), James Quinn, Branna Quinn, Haydon Quinn and Will Kay; and great-great-grandchildren, Sophie Peebles and Ruthie Barnes.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Mitchell; her brothers, Howard, James and Roy Wages; and a sister, Mildred West.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Wheeler Grove Baptist Church and her great-grandchildren.
