Curlie M. “Cowboy” Threlkeld

Mr. Curlie M. “Cowboy” Threlkeld, 81, died Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at his home in Oxford, MS. The funeral will be Thursday, May 4, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at Shiloh Baptist Church with Rev. David Ard officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 9:30 A.M. at the church. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery.

Cowboy was born March 7, 1942, in Denmark, MS, to the late Henry Curl and Lottie Starnes Threlkeld. He was former owner of Rebel Motor Freight before founding his company, LMT Trucking in 1985. Cowboy was passionate about his work and served as Former President of the Mississippi Trucking Association. An avid Ole Miss fan, he enjoyed watching and following all Rebels sports. Cowboy attended Shiloh Baptist Church. If his television was on, he was sure to be watching a Western series or movie and was a life-long fan of Elvis Presley. Most of all, Cowboy enjoyed visits from his grandchildren, that always brought him great joy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Wayne Threlkeld.

Cowboy is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bonnie Busby Threlkeld of Oxford, MS; sons, Steve Wayne Threlkeld and his wife, Renee of Oxford, MS and Chad Anthony Threlkeld and his wife, Elizabeth of Oxford, MS; and his four grandchildren, Brooklyn Threlkeld, Blake Threlkeld, Stone Threlkeld, and Ava Threlkeld.
