Dr. Robert Edward Crowe

September 1, 1936 ~ May 3, 2023

Dr. Robert Edward Crowe died at his home in Corinth May 3, 2023 under the care of Gentiva Hospice. Known to his many friends as “Bob”, he was born September 1, 1936, in Oxford, Mississippi. After attending Oxford Elementary and University High School in Oxford, he graduated from the University of Mississippi where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He was commissioned a United States Army Infantry officer through the Army ROTC program, was stationed in Berlin, Germany with the famed Berlin Brigade, and was on active duty as an infantry platoon leader in Berlin when construction of the infamous Berlin Wall was begun. At the time, one of his close friends in his company was fellow lieutenant and future general, Norman Schwarzkopf.

After completing his active army service, Bob returned home, was accepted into the University of Tennessee School of Dentistry in Memphis, and upon graduation, moved to Corinth, joining the office of Dr. Carl Norwood, Jr., where he practiced dentistry for 44 years. In 1982 he entered the Mississippi National Guard, serving as an officer in the 972D Medical Detachment (Dental) in Jackson, Mississippi, while maintaining his active dental practice in Corinth. He retired from the National Guard and the Army Reserve in 1996 with the rank of colonel.

Bob Crowe was a true patriot and an enthusiastic lover of life, his family, his friends and of all animals, fast cars, motorcycles, laughter, and a good story. He was happiest when he and his beloved Wanda were entertaining friends and family in their home, be it on holidays or the frequent last-minute early evening “happy hour” gatherings.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Wiles Crowe, step daughter Vicki Witt Seago (Don), stepson Curt Witt, ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to special friend, Doris Patterson, and to the staff of Gentiva Hospice for their care and support.

A graveside service followed by burial will be held in Oxford, Mississippi.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be sent to a charity of your choice.
