Phillip was a Kossuth High School graduate, class of 1971. He was married for 49 years to his high school sweetheart Wanda. Phillip, “Green Hornet” was a career truck driver who shifted a lot of gears over his 53 years behind the wheel. He drove log trucks with Settlemires Trucking, was employed by Alcorn School District Bus Shop and by the 5th District Supervisor. He also jointly owned and operated Settlemires Pressure Washing with his son Clay. He was known as a hard worker who kept busy from sun up to sun down with one of his jobs or hobbies. He never met a stranger. He loved people and never missed an opportunity to visit, talk, and catch up with friends and family. Phillip loved the Lord and was an active member of Lone Oak Baptist Church where he loved to sing and to fellowship with his church family. His family was his joy, and his big personality will be greatly missed by them and by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Elbert Settlemires and Ray Settlemires; and grandson-in-law, Nicholas Taylor Crump.
Phillip is survived by his wife of 49 years, Wanda Settlemires; daughters, Shae Martin (Clint) and Lori White (Scott); son, Clay Settlemires (Jessica); brothers, Keith Settlemires (Shelia), Bobby Settlemires (Linda) and Steve Settlemires (Cynthia); sister, Deborah Coombs (Tim); grandchildren, Kaylee Martin Crump, Kerissa Ruiz (Jose), Serra Hinton James (Desmond), Brody White (Teraney), Adalynn Settlemires, Reaghan Settlemires and Mallie Ann Settlemires; great-grandchildren, Harvey Beth Crump, Rose Anna Ruiz, Torren James and Dellah James; and a host of nieces and nephews.
