James Paul Lancaster
Services honoring the life of James Paul Lancaster, 74, will be held on June 21, 2023 at 1pm at Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Zack Howell officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 am until service time at 1 pm. A private burial will be in Magnolia Gardens.
James passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Magnolia Regional Health Center on Saturday, June 17, 2023. He was a 1966 graduate of Kossuth High School. He was a third-generation U.S. Army Veteran and served in Viet-Nam. He attended Northeast MS Community College Vo-Tech from 1974-1975 and Alcorn County Vo-Tech from 1985-1986. He was employed at Wurlitzer, Tenn-Tom Waterways, Pittman Bros., and Alcorn County Co-Op. He was of the Baptist faith. He had a love for family and for being outdoors, especially anything to do with farming. James had a good-natured, easy-going personality and the ability to repair and build most anything. His favorite singer was Don Williams, who he got to see in concert. He enjoyed western movies.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Louise (Morton) Lancaster; his in-laws; his baby son in 1983; an infant sister in 1941; and an infant brother in 1947.
Survivors include his wife of almost 47 years, Gloria Jean Kuykendall Lancaster, whom he married October 29, 1976; and his son, Chad James Lancaster, both of Corinth; his sister, Billie Wegmann; nephew, Tom Wegmann (Tabby); niece, Casey Wegmann Dunn (Ron), all of Kossuth; his extended family, Gerald Wegmann (Marcia); and a host of cousins and friends.
Pallbearers are Tom Wegmann, Ronnie Kuykendall, Mike Kuykendall, Danny Waldon, Joey Morton, Gerald Wegmann, Fred Lancaster, Mike Lancaster and Shorty Mincey.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Union Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 324 CR 560, Corinth, MS 38834 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
