Norma Winte Gardner, 79, of Starkville, MS, passed peacefully in her sleep, July 22. 2023, after a brief battle with cancer.
She was born on May 14, 1944, in Detroit, MI. She graduated from Corinth High School and went on to receive a degree from Mississippi University for Women.
She was married to Milburn “Skip” Gardner, III for 31 years until his passing July 27, 1998.
Norma was a homemaker and held many jobs including working at a bank, a radio station and agricultural department at Mississippi State.
Norma was an avid creator/artist. She sewed, painted, and cooked. She loved bridge, bible study, and Mississippi State baseball.
Most of all, she loved Jesus Christ and is now fully restored with her heavenly Father.
Norma is preceded in death by both parents, Mary Katherine and Norman John Winte, and her husband, Skip.
She is survived by her brother, Scott Byars (wife Cecilia); her two children, Kurt Gardner (wife Leigh) and Kristin Edelblute (husband Kevin); her three beloved grandchildren, Caleb, Kayleigh, and Alex Edelblute.
Services will be held at First Baptist Church, Starkville on Saturday, July 29, 2023. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with the service starting at 11:15 am in the Warehouse/Outreach Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any condolences be expressed in donations to her Friendship Sunday School class- they support organizations such as French Camp Academy, CWJC, Baptist’s Children’s Village and individual needs within the Starkville Community (make checks to: FBC/Friendship Class; mail to: 106 East Lampkin Street, Starkville, MS 39759). Cancer or Crohn’s research are also preferred donation alternatives.
