Elvis Lamar Kinard, Jr. (“PeeWee”), 67, of Starkville, MS passed away July 26, 2023 from sudden heart failure.
Born January 4, 1956 to Elvis Lamar Kinard, Sr. and Peggy Gregg Kinard in Starkville, and graduated from Louisville High School class of 1974. The second oldest of 6, his siblings are Danny Ray Kinard, Teresa Hill, Deborah Kinard Weaver, Robert Preston Kinard, and Cynthia Shaffer. He found the love of his life Janice Gentry Kinard and was married 43 years.
A man of much talent and strong work ethic, he began with family business Gregg Construction and followed that to Rackley Oil Company. His finest years were with Starkville Oktibbeha Consolidated School District where his 25-year career culminated in the role of Maintenance Director for the district.
He and Janice were blessed with two sons and daughter in law: Elliott McClure Kinard, 40, and Kirk Randall Kinard, 28 and; Ann Douglass Kinard.
Elvis proudly supported his wife and both sons through college education at Mississippi State University. He was a true friend to the people he shared life with — in work, golf, and hunting — and enjoyed these pursuits even through his last days. He will be remembered as one always ready to help family and friends alike in their time of need.
He is survived by his wife Janice, sons Elliott and Kirk, and siblings, Danny Ray, Teresa, Deborah, Robert Preston, and Cynthia.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, July 28, 2023 from 10:00-10:45 a.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS, with the funeral service following in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Dr. Martin Lifer will conduct the service. Burial will be in Oaklimb Cemetery in Crawford, MS.
The pallbearers are as follows: Paul Brown, Bill McDavid, Mark Gentry, Bailey Newell, Keegan Burton, and Ray Rushing.
