Ms. Forsythe was born on September 2, 1933, in McNairy Co. TN to the late Columbus J. Calvery and Modenia Farris Calvery. At the age of thirteen, they moved to Corinth, MS where she attended school. She enjoyed basketball and skating.
In 1951, she met and married Richard W. Forsythe. He was called to the ministry in 1960 and pastored churches in Ripley, Marks, Meridian, Burnsville and Forest, MS. She was a great asset to his ministry; being gifted at hosting special occasions, teaching Sunday School, and working with the ladies in the church. She also served as secretary of the church in Forest for 22 years. At their retirement in 2004, they became members of Pine Grove Pentecostal Church in Sebastopol, MS.
In 2020, she returned to Forest and back to her home church where she attended faithfully for as long as she was able. She loved her pastor, Rev. Bill Pitman, and his family as well as her wonderful church family. She will be greatly missed by all of those knew and loved her.
Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband; four brothers, Herman, Herbert, Willie and Argene Calvery; and two sisters, Christine Stevenson and Ruth Thomas.
She is survived by two sons, Monty Forsythe (Bobbie) of Forest and Greg Forsythe of Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren, Mark Forsythe, Lawanna Havard, Brad Forsythe and Dustin Forsythe; and eleven great grandchildren.
