Betty Jo Dye
Blue Springs – Betty Jo Dye, 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 02, 2023 at her home,
surrounded by her family. She was born in Meridian and raised in the Fairfield Community, then later moved to the Alpine Community after she married the love of her life, Tommy, on June 1, 1956. She was a lifetime member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, a lifelong homemaker, loved to cook, and was especially known by her children, grandchildren and many others for her peach cobbler. She enjoyed doing word find puzzles until her sight no longer allowed her to do so. She also enjoyed watching Little House on the Prairie, Golden Girls, The Waltons, Young & Restless and Hallmark movies- sharing that love with her daughter, Virginia whom she, in recent years had moved in with along with her son-in-law, Mike that cared for her. She was never known to be an animal lover, however had recently developed a special love for her furry girls, Scarlett and Gracie who spent a lot of time in her lap & by her side.
Services honoring Betty Jo will be at Waters Funeral Home on Saturday, August 05, 2023 @ 3:00 p. m. with Bro. Terry Faulkner officiating. Burial will be in Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Lemons and husband, Mike; son, Thomas Dye and wife, Becky; daughter, MaryAnn Shaffer and husband, Steve; grandchildren, David Bell (April), Stevie Holcomb (Kelly), Melanie Dye Dillard (Austin), Jacob Dye, Lane Nichols, and Kristin Howell (Jeremy); (12) great-grandchildren; (2) great-great grandchildren; brother, Bobby Crawford and wife, Betty Jane from Brandon MS; special friend, Cassie Needham that was more like family; other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Dye; her parents, Joseph and Edlah Adams Crawford; an infant brother.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Bell, Breland Randle, Glen Coleman, John Randle, Trent Roberts and Jim Roberts.
Visitation will be Saturday at Waters Funeral Home from 1:00 – 3:00 p. m.
The family would like to thank NMMC Home Care/ Home Health- especially her nurse, Jessica Hunt for her love, care and dedication, and to Sanctuary Hospice for their compassion in helping to care for our Mother.
