Donna Jo Coats

Donna Jo Coats, 68, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2023, at her home in Booneville, MS. She was born May 7, 1955. Ms. Coats enjoyed going to the beach with her family and taking care of everyone. Donna was a RN for 39 years. She loved her family, and spoiling her grandchildren. She was the devoted matriarch that held her family together.

A Celebration of Life Service will be at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at McMillan Funeral Home with Bro. David George and Bro. Johnny Bowlin officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park.

She is survived by her daughter, Jessica Coats (Christopher Hassan); three sisters, Carol Denise Wilemon (Clayton), Phyllis Barnes (Terry), and Melissa Turner; six grandchildren, Mason Coats, Cooper Bowen, Darien Carroll, Madison Hassan, Haley Hassan, and Dakota Hassan; four nieces and nephews, Michael Smith (Shawna), Kenney Turner III, Alanah Barnes, and Alexandria Barnes; and a host of other great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Casper Clyde and Julia Nichols, and J.A. Smith; her grandparents, Claude and Lily Michael, Clara and Jodie Smith; one sister, Julia Dianne Weeks; one nephew, Kevin Turner; one niece, Emily Turner; and a special friend, Jeff Walker.

Visitation will be Monday, August 21, 2023, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Michael Smith, Terry Barnes, Kenney Turner III, Dakota Hassan, Mason Coats, and Jack Barnes.

Honorary Pallbearers will be her nephews and grandsons.
