Jeanette Cook Huggins

Mildred Jeannette (Cook) Huggins passed away in Oxford, MS on Sept. 25, 2023. A graveside service will be held Monday, October 2, 2023, at 10:30 A.M. at North Oxford Cemetery with Rev. Fish Robinson officiating.

Jeannette was born in eastern Arkansas on Aug. 6, 1930. She grew up in the Mississippi Delta, specifically Hillhouse and Gunnison. She attended the University of Southern Mississippi where she was a member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority.

She married Barney Preston Huggins on December 15, 1951, and later moved to Jackson where they raised their two sons, David and Barry. Jeannette worked most of her adult life at Deposit Guaranty National Bank, retiring in the late 80s. She is preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by her sons, their wives Lisa and Janet, and six grandchildren.

Jeannette will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is remembered as a person of strong character and faith, always willing to lend a hand to neighbors and friends.
