Mrs. Louise Christman Cizmar, 90, died Sunday, October 1, 2023, at her daughter’s home in Oxford, MS. The funeral will be Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Mozart Dor officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 12:30 P.M. Burial will follow the service in Campground Cemetery in Water Valley, MS.
Louise was born on December 27, 1932, in Lafayette County, MS, to the late Velma V. Hollowell and Elton L. Christman. A graduate of Taylor High School, she was well-known and remembered as a talented member of the basketball team. Louise retired from Baptist Memorial Hospital, where she worked as a ward clerk in the Intensive Care Unit. She was a spiritual person, always setting aside time each day to read and study her Bible. Louise believed fully in the power of prayer, devoting herself often to time in conversation with God. She nurtured her faith through regular church attendance, as a previous member of Anchor Baptist Church and longtime member of Oasis Church of All Nations. Louise proudly served as Regional Vice President of Aglow, a women’s Christian organization. While living in Memphis, she and her husband, Pete, opened their home and their hearts to the ministry of foster care. Numerous children were trusted into their care, all of whom they loved and looked after as if they were their own. A loving and devoted mother, Louise always put her family first, and found great joy in each moment spent with them. She was preceded in death by her dear husband, Rudolph “Pete” Cizmar, Jr.; sister, Sandra Nelson; and brother, Art Nelson.
Louise is survived by her daughter, Linda Hodge and her husband, David, of Oxford, MS; her son, Gary Cizmar and his wife, Linda, of Oxford, MS; three grandchildren, Rachel Isbell, Jonathan McIntosh, and Joseph McIntosh; and ten great-grandchildren.
