Frances Page Polk, 84, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2023 in Starkville, Mississippi.
Mrs. Polk was born January 24, 1939, in Oktibbeha County, Mississippi, to John Oliver Page and Maxine Vetter Page.
She is survived by her children: William L. Polk, III of Atlanta, Georgia, Michael Page Polk (Michelle) of Starkville, Mississippi and Laura Polk Cooley (Chad) of Little Rock, Arkansas. Grandchildren: Ford Polk (Abi) of Brandon, Mississippi, Grace Cooley Peck (Guy) of Nashville, TN and Teague Cooley of Little Rock, Arkansas. She is also survived by her brother William Oliver Page (Cornelia), and many nieces, nephews and countless beloved friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband William L. Polk, Jr.
Mrs. Polk was a graduate of Starkville High School and of Mississippi State University. She worked for over 25 years as the secretary of Millsaps Vocational Center at Starkville High School where she met lifelong friends and students with whom she still maintained relationships.
Frances was involved in various clubs, including Starkville Women’s Club, Oktoc Garden Club, and the Baptist Widows Group. She was a member of the Savage Sunday School at First United Methodist Church and enjoyed decorating for their many functions. She was a member of Oktibbeha County Hospital Auxiliary for many years and loved interacting with the community. She also enjoyed a local Bunko group, but her very favorite group was a Saturday night supper club with her beloved Amigos!
Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, October 22, 2023 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Starkville, MS, with the funeral service immediately following. Rev. Jim Genesse and Rev. Bob Whiteside will conduct the service. Burial will be in Memorial Garden Park Cemetery.
