OZARK COMMUNITY – Betty Lou Taylor, 77, passed away Christmas morning, December 25, 2023, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born November 10, 1946, in the Ozark community of Itawamba County to Charlie D. and Mattie Sue Rusoe Shields. She retired as an inspector for Golden Manufacturing in Marietta and was a member of Ozark Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling, especially to the Smoky Mountains, and watching mystery and horror movies. She loved her family and friends, but her grandkids and great-grand were her life.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, at the Ozark Baptist Church with Bro. Dempsey Rowland, Bro. James Young, and Bro. Bill Adams officiating. Burial will be in the Ozark Cemetery.
Survivors include her daughter, Tina Langley (Gary) of the Ozark community; her son, Mitch Taylor (Candice) of Mooreville; five grandchildren, Layken Wright (Josh), Jacob Allen Taylor, Joshua Allen Taylor, Jonathan Allen Taylor, and Lexton Wright; one great-granddaughter, Mattie Elizabeth Wright; one brother, Kelcy Shields (Judie) of Mantachie; a sister-in-law, Shirley Shields of Fulton; and a special cousin, Dorothy Thomas of the Ozark community.
She was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life for 54 years, Elvis Dexter "Bud" Taylor, on January 1, 2021; her parents; one brother, Kilby Shields (Dorotha); and one sister, Sudie Davidson (Bobby Gene).
Pallbearers will be Eric Shields, Frank Shields, Grant Shields, Gary Boren, Terry Bruff, and Leon McMillen.
Visitation will be from noon until service time Wednesday at Ozark Baptist Church.
