Dixie Helton Murphree

January 22, 1941 – December 25, 2023

FULTON – Dixie Helton Murphree, 82, passed away Christmas night, December 25, 2023, at the North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice Unit in Tupelo. A proud native of Whitesburg, Kentucky, Dixie was born January 22, 1941, to John and Callie Frazier Helton. She worked at various jobs to support her family including cosmetology, factories, and retail. She was a member of the Fulton Church of Christ. Dixie was an avid reader and lifelong learner. Many of her hobbies were self-taught, which included cake decorating, sewing, crocheting, flower arranging, quilting, and cooking. She enjoyed traveling, especially to the mountains, which reminded her of home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, December 29, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Minister Russ Crosswhite officiating. Burial will be in the Harden's Chapel Cemetery.

Survivors include her three children, Kathy Murphree Wilson (Jimmie) and Robert Murphree (Renee), both of Fulton, and Sharon Murphree Stokes (Thomas F.) of Meridian; five grandchildren, Lara Wilson Gary (Trey), Ashley Murphree Keith (Shawn), Wes Stokes (Lauren), Brooklyn Murphree Sutterfield (Robert), and Will Stokes (Bailey); and 11 great-grandchildren, Case, Adelyn, Callie, Sadie, and Maryn Gary; Jase, Andrew, and Eliza Keith; Georgia and Denver Stokes; and Henry Stokes.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Frank, Charles, and Doug Helton.

Pallbearers will be Jimmie Wilson, Thomas F. Stokes, Wes Stokes, Will Stokes, Trey Gary, and Case Gary.

Visitation will be from noon until service time Friday at McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Fulton.
