Nina Worley Ivey of Starkville, MS, formerly of Dukedom, TN, a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2023 at the age of 83.
Nina was a school teacher in Carrier, MS and was involved in church activities at First Baptist Church in Picayune. MS. After returning to Kentucky to reside near her hometown of Fulton, she was actively involved in many clubs as well as church and school functions. She played piano and organ for Good Springs PC Church in Dukedom, TN and worked on the kitchen committee. Having been a caterer, she excelled at planning big family get togethers, usually followed by a game of dominoes.
Nina was born October 9th, 1940, in Fulton, KY to John Evan Worley and Laura Venita Worley, both of whom predeceased her. She was also preceded in death by her first husband of 19 years, L.C. Easterling of Picayune, and by her second husband of 39 years, Carl Ivey , Sr., also of Picayune.
She is survived by sisters Gladys Worley Wall (James) of Martin, TN, Shirley Worley Edwards of Benton, KY, and Helen Worley McGowan (Frank) of Troy, TN; children Carl Ivey, Jr. (Paula – deceased) of Starkville, Debra Jo Ivey Walker (Don) of Chunky, MS, Lea Ivey Stone (Matt) of Pass Christian, MS, David Ivey (Tara) of Covington, LA, Lori Easterling Rutland of Madison, MS, and John Mark Ivey (Stacy) of Bowling Green, KY; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Nina’s life will be celebrated with graveside services at New Palestine Cemetery in Picayune on Sunday, December 31, 2023 at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association.
