Dorothy Ann Bennett

Ms. Dorothy Ann Bennett, 89, died Monday, January 8, 2024, at Yalobusha County Nursing Home in Water Valley, MS. The funeral will be Friday, January 12, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Eric George officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 12:30 P.M. Burial will follow in Abbeville Cemetery.

Dorothy was born on April 22, 1934, in Pleasant Hills, MS, to the late Mazie Taylor and William Heaston. She worked as a waitress at Holiday Inn in Oxford for 30 years, where she enjoyed always getting to know new people. A member of North Oxford Baptist Church, Dorothy loved her church family and looked forward to Sundays the most. She studied her Bible intently, not out of obligation, but out of sincere interest in learning more and nourishing her faith. Most of all, Dorothy was a loving and devoted mother, who put her children first in all that she did. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Bennett, and son, Ronnie Bennett.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Sandra Bennett Jackson of Abbeville, MS; sons, Mike Bennett and his wife, Lisa, of Oxford, MS and Brian Bennett and his wife, Maria of Oxford, MS; as well as eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
