Dr. Elias Richard Callahan, Jr., 85, was born on April 8, 1938 in Louisiana to the late Elias R. Callahan, Sr. and Cora Estelle Thetford Callahan. He passed away on March 3, 2024 at his home in Starkville, MS.
He was a retired Professor of Business Information Systems at Mississippi State University and a member of First United Methodist Church in Starkville, where he sang in the choir and also sang with Men for the Master. He loved to fly planes and enjoyed boating on the Tombigbee. He also played different instruments, as well as writing arrangements and was a former member of the University of Alabama marching band.
Dr. Callahan is survived by his wife of 64 years, Barbara Gilbreath Callahan of Starkville, MS; daughter, Debbie Goebel (Kerry) of Houston, TX; sons, Rick Callahan (Karen) of Houston, TX, Robby Callahan (Lori) of Scottsboro, AL; brother, Ted Callahan of Lexington, KY; nine grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Garden Park Cemetery in Starkville.
