Norma Jo Gaither Staub

May 8, 1936 – May 3, 2024

Norma Jo Gaither Staub of Fulton, Mississippi, died peacefully on Friday, May 3, 2024, at The Meadows in Fulton. She born on May 8, 1936, and she lived most of her life in Itawamba County, graduating with honors from Itawamba Agricultural High School in 1952. She attended courses at Itawamba Junior College and Auburn University. Mrs. Staub served the Fulton United Methodist Church as pianist for over forty years. She taught children’s Sunday School, served at Vacation Bible Schools, participated in Oktoberfest fundraising events and other special events, oversaw the Worship Committee, and served as church Historian. She was always willing to provide snacks and meals for church functions. Mrs. Staub loved her family and was committed to their wellbeing. She instilled in her children a desire to do things well. She served as a Cub Scout and a Girl Scout leader, a homeroom mother, and as a “chauffeur” to her children and their friends for church, school, and extracurricular events. She ministered to her elderly family members, visiting with them, driving them to the doctor, and running errands for them. She and her husband, Travis, were married for 61 years before his death in 2015. They began dating while attending church together as teenagers. She was in partnership with him when he attended Auburn University, served in the Air Force in Atlanta, and when he developed JESCO into a regional commercial construction company. Mrs. Staub had a heart for those in need and served many years delivering Meals On Wheels. She also served a poll manager for the Fulton American Legion polling site for many years. Her favorite pastimes were planning and celebrating the holidays with her family, watching her birds, and enjoying the flowers in her yard.

Mrs. Staub is survived by her four children, Susan Gaither Sharp of Memphis, TN, Nancy Helen Staub of Spanish Fort, AL, Laura Staub Young of Fulton, MS, and Steven Edwin (Maria) Staub, of Tupelo, MS; ten grandchildren, Emily (Michael) Pittman, Amy McCoy, David Sharp, Anna (Will) Brann, Katie Gordon, Megan (Cole) Pearson, Alice (Brad) Griggs, Michael (Taylor) Staub, Ivy (Trey) Frazer, and Tate (Will) Parrott, and twenty-three great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
