Ronald “Ronnie” Hudspeth

March 10, 1945 ~ June 29, 2024

Mr. Ronald “Ronnie” Hudspeth, 79, died Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN. A visitation will be held Sunday, July 7, 2024, from 2:00 P.M. until 3:30 P.M. in West Hall of Waller Funeral Home.

Ronnie was born on March 10, 1945, in Yuma, Arizona, to the late Ailene White Hudspeth and William T. Hudspeth. He worked and retired as a District Conservationist at the NRCS/USDA after a shorter career as a school teacher at Potts Camp, after graduating from Mississippi State University. In both his work and his personal life, Ronnie had a passion for the outdoors and nature. He was an avid fisherman and duck hunter, and was always willing to lend a hand when it came to farm work. Friends knew that they could call on him when help was needed, and the quickest way to his heart was to let him drive a tractor. While living in Greenville, MS, he and his wife, Carol, faithfully attended Emmanuel Baptist Church, where Ronnie taught Sunday School for 9 years. A friend to all, he deeply valued community and had never met a stranger. Ronnie went out of his way to introduce himself, making others feel welcome and included. Overflowing with never ending stories, he told them in a way that kept you engaged and laughing all the way through. Ronnie was always joking, with the gentle wit and sarcasm he was known best for. He was a reluctant traveler, but with a little coaxing and convincing from Carol, they found themselves on many wonderful adventures, making unforgettable memories.

Ronnie is survived by his loving wife, Carol Baldwin Hudspeth of Oxford, MS; five children, Brandon Hudspeth (Miele) of Oxford, MS, Brian Hudspeth (Rose) of Thompson’s Station, TN, Brent Hudspeth (Nicole) of New Albany, MS, Brenda Sidwell (Jason) of Collierville, TN, and Barry Junkin of Coffeeville, MS; sister, Sherry Hudspeth Chrestman (Lee) of Sevierville, TN; and 12 grandchildren, Sophie Hudspeth, Chloe Hudspeth, Joseph Hudspeth, Caleb Hudspeth (Lacy), Shelby Hudspeth Davis (John Caleb), Joshua Hudspeth, Jack Sidwell, Brett Sidwell, A.J. Junkin, Lauren Junkin Smith, Shelby Junkin, and Tayler Junkin.

Ronnie deeply loved his family and was blessed to be surrounded by them in his final days.

Expressions of sympathy or memorial contributions in Ronnie’s memory may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation, Post Office Box 7023, Merrifield, PA, 22116 or online at www.diabetes.org .
