Myron Leroy Wilkinson, Sr.

Mr. Myron Leroy Wilkinson, Sr., 83, died Saturday, July 20, 2024, at his home in Tula, MS. The funeral will be Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Bro. David Wilkinson and Rev. Morris Jones officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow the service in Lafayette Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Wilkinson was born on March 31, 1941, in Benton County, MS, to the late Erna Mae and Allen Franklin Wilkinson. A retired Master Plumber, he owned and operated Neighborhood Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling and was a part of the startup of Neighborhood Rental Property, a company that focused on converting abandoned houses into affordable housing. A lifelong native of Mississippi, Mr. Wilkinson had a natural love of the outdoors and nature. Throughout his life, he was an avid deer hunter, adapting his passion as he aged. When he was no longer able to handle long walks into the woods and the climb into a deer stand, he began hunting from his back porch in his rocking chair, before he eventually hung up his rifle for good and found a love for simply feeding the deer. He enjoyed fishing at his pond, also ensuring the fish stayed well fed. A talented cook, he loved to prepare meals and was always willing to offer a plate to anyone who stopped by. Mr. Wilkinson was an avid collector of knives of all varieties, often trading and bartering with other collectors. He was gifted with a beautiful voice, finding great joy in singing and listening to music. Above all, his life revolved around his family and grandchildren. He and his wife of 63 years, Sandra, were so proud of their three children, and their many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He counted himself blessed to see so many generations flourish and was honored to be the patriarch of such a large and loving family. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wilkinson was preceded in death by four brothers and his grandson, Alexander Wilkinson.

Mr. Wilkinson is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra Wilkinson of Tula, MS; daughter, Jennifer Wilkinson Neal and her husband, Claude, of Tula, MS; sons, Myron L. Wilkinson, Jr. and his wife, Ann, of Memphis, TN and Tommy Edwin Wilkinson and his wife, Kathy, of Memphis, TN; two brothers, Terry Wilkinson of Corinth, MS and Mike Wilkinson and his wife, Linda, of Vicksburg, MS; seven grandchildren, Michael Reid (Katy) of Texas, Christopher Neal (Whitney) of Strayhorn, MS, Samantha Neal (fiancé, James) of Tula, MS, Faith Neal of Tula, MS, Ivey Moffet (David) of Memphis, TN, Spenser Russell (Shane) of Oxford, MS, and Savana Ramond (Randall) of Pontotoc, MS; nieces and nephews, Tony Wilkinson (Melody), David Wilkinson (Allyson), Pene Lane Russell (Steve), Kathleen Taylor, and Alliston Wilkinson (Kaitlin); as well as 11 great-grandchildren.
